You should get some therapy for your bereavement. In the course of this therapy you could stand to address some gaping emotional wounds that seem to be quite visible just on a forum. People are not always nice to people in distress, sometimes they see it as an opening to hurt someone, either because they are themselves, like your son. Your family dynamic sounds troubled, with so mnay people not on speaking terms and the expectations, etc. Maybe you do or maybe you don't know how that is affecting you inside, but either way some work on being self assured and assertive could help you a lot from what you described.
Thank you. For sure, it's all pretty distressing.

Really helpful comments! Thank you. I appreciate that.
I am really sorry to hear about the loss of your mother, JMann.

I think it is always hoped that the death of one family member will bring together all of the other family members, to not only help share the grief but to also help heal family rifts that might have existed in the past.

Unfortunately, it doesn't always work out that way.

Good luck moving forward. I hope you and your son can reconnect.

Thank you. This will require time but I hope so, too.

Here for informational purposes ONLY (because I doubt there will be good reason for anyone to initiate any sort of criminal action) are links to Wisconsin's theft laws and Wisconsin's criminal defamation law (which is very rarely prosecuted):
theft: https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/943/III/20

criminal defamation:
https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/942/01
Both a theft of property under $2500 and criminal defamation are charged as Class A misdemeanors.

The usual legal means for pursuing an act of defamation in all states is to file a civil suit against the defamer.
