The last I knew pins are acceptable only when using the card as a debit card. A signature is required by all the major credit card companies I am aware of when using a credit card.
If I was the op I would at least resporf this to the involved bank and tell the. The credit card charges were not authorized. He should inform the bank it was his wife that used the card. They deal with this sort of crap all too regularly so if they say it isn’t fraud, I think it’s dead. If they pick it up they will suspend or even reverse the charges and possibly seek criminal action against her. Since a credit card holder has a finite amount of time to report suspected fraud. He should just call them and be honest with them. That way op is covered if it is fraud and he has been honest about the situstion so it isn’t falsely reporting it as fraud
