Guess it depends on the Judge. If requested by either party, our judges fairly routinely order no consumption of alcohol during visitation/custodial periods. And they would definitely frown upon leaving the child in a vehicle in the care of a person the child doesn't know while dad was in a bar for more than a moment. I would expect more than just a "don't let it happen again." I would expect an order to be entered specifically prohibiting such an occurrence in the future, and a dressing down for dad. Further, if either party expects it, the judges in my area also routinely restrict cohabitation with the opposite sex (unless related by blood or marriage) during visitation and custodial periods.
just love them southern states.........

And all of that can be fairly routinely entered into an ORIGINAL order here too. But as a modification? Not likely to happen - and again, mom has no PROOF that dad was drinking, no PROOF that he was in the bar more than 10 minutes, (and we don't even know if it was a 'bar' or more like an applebee's or something), and no PROOF that he was 'cohabitating' with anyone at all.

What does it take.............An angry person to come out of the bar and shoot a gun and hope that my son is not in the aim of fire?
An angry person can come out of anywhere...grocery store, bank, school, church. Your stereotyping of this stuff happening only at bars shows your ignorance.

What is the difference really...........Bar or Drug house. Not much!
Congrats! You're 2 for 2 for stupid comments. This really makes you look more ignorant. Do you know how many people go to bars every single day just to release after work -- or go out with their colleagues to celebrate a big sale, close, business deal -- or just go out to have fun. Going to a bar is not criminal. A drug house is. Get a flippin' clue.

What is wrong with alot of children today is the system that does not protect them until it could be to late. Thank You all for your time and help.
So whatever happened to being a "parent"? Let me guess: you're one of the idiot parents who pushed really hard for TV ratings because you weren't smart enough to know that a show on TV at 10pm isn't for kids? Parents are supposed to protect their child. You sound like you do need alot of help.

Most of those people however, don't take their children with them, or have them sitting outside in a car while they are inside.

Dunno. I take my kids to the local dive for dinner and there are always families there as well as some more colorful folks. They make the best steak around, and a beer goes with it perfectly.

I forget that things are different in other states. Yeah, I would have no problem taking my child to a restaurant, even a dive...lol, that also serves alcohol. However, here, children aren't allowed inside bars...even if the bar happens to also serve food. Children are only allowed in establishments that separate the bar part from the restaurant part.

Here, there's a time limit. No one under 21 can be in a 'bar' after 9pm. But until 9pm, anyone and everyone can enter - provided the establishment serves food, and I can't imagine a bar that doesn't at least serve sammiches.

Every Tuesday is buy 1 get 1 on dinners.
Bar...pool tables...golf machine.
We only go about once a month.
It's the greasiest food, but the kids love going there!

I had an issue with my nuttyX taking our child in situations which have 'adult' content...no, not a Bar, AA meetings. Trust me, the things that are said there are waaaaaaaaaaaaay worse than what you'd hear at a bar!

My argument was the adult content she was exposed to. The judge agreed~ he is no longer allowed to take her to his meetings.

If the 'Bar' also serves food, it could be a hard battle to win. If it's just a Bar and does not allow minors at any time, for any reason~ it is clearly inappropriate...the problem is, as other posters mentioned, PROVING the child was there. And when, and why and for how long.

Are you serious? How old is your daughter? This was included in your court order?

She was 3 at the time...and yes it was included in the order as well as the GALs report. She was making strange statements and using words like 'drugs' and 'beer' (things she would not normally know of)...nuttyX tried to quote her and say it must be because I was doing those things...problem is nuttyX asked me to pick her up one time from a meeting. A person at the meeting who knew me throughout our marriage was willing to break confidentiality and give testimony that my daughter was observed at the meetings as young as 2 yrs old. These meetings (unlike 'Family' meetings) had no childcare.
