For the record
the Scriptures do not forbid capitol punishment or such against people who have set their heart to do wrong.
the commandment 'thou shalt not kill' actually, in the hebrew, reads 'thou shalt not commit murder', which would be an act such as these two people are accused of.
that's OT, but most quote that scripture so i post it here for ease.
in the NT, the scripture most quote would be the one where Jesus says 'they that live by the sword die by the sword'.
that sword thing is a hebrew idiom. it meant, more or less, if you take matters into your own hands using the sword, outside of legal (or scriptural) venues, you will be held accountable for your actions.
child molesters and those that take advantage of the weak are, actually, not protected by Scripture. and those that harm children, specifically, are, specifically not protected by scripture.
that would be the LEGAL interpretation of the document i am quoting, btw.
and for those that bring up the element of grace, grace is what is granted when one confesses to the sin. consequences of the sin are a separate issue. by this document when it is interpreted LEGALLY.
