found a pair of shoes in the lost and found at school, mother made him take them back to lost and found because, shoes were nasty and maybe some other kid in need may want them. brought back to school to find out they belonged to a high school kid. parents of high school kid wants him to pay for shoes. i offered the original price of shoes but never heard from anyone again, until now. received paper in mail 6 months later stating the theft of property charges, class A misdemeanor. he is an A student, plays in the band and football. never been in trouble. the shoes were never an act of true theft. what are my options to help him? and keep this off his record because this will cause him to never receive any grants or scholarships to college.
