PA is where the custody order is; OH is where CS was filed. Apparently.

(And thanks for the clarification. It really does seem like a nebulous definition, the difference between types of physical custody.)
Well, I know that in OH it apparently makes a difference. If a parent has joint physical, then they're obligated to exercise their time, or find an alternative care provider. If they only have visitation, then they are not obligated (the whole, it's a right not an obligation thing).

I don't know FOR SURE that PA is different from OH, only that many states don't make that distinction between "custody" and "visitation" when it comes to time with the child. And, in fact, I know several states tend to use the verbiage interchangeably. In my order (yeah, different state, but just as an example), time with the kids is referred to in different places as "temporary custodial periods", "visitation" and "parenting time". "Parenting time" is actually the preferred language in MO, and the one I prefer as well.

Thanks everyone.

I am just going to file for increased visitation and go the route LDIJ stated.

I am not worried about joint physical custody vs sole physical custody since from what I can tell doesn't have that much difference.

Should I file the paperwork now so I can be ready for January? or should I wait until I actually move. I don't have an apt rented yet since it's a few months away. I am not sure if I need to wait until I get my address.

Also, can I have CS moved to PA since I'll be residing here or should I keep it in OH since that is where my employer is.

and the Visitation order is from PA courts and CS is ran through OH

Until you've actually moved, the entire discussion is moot. Wait until you've moved, and then file for increased visitation.
