True, and though I get CJane's point it wasn't a fair analogy at all.

(Even allowing for the extrapolation)
I dunno, that general idea of bearing absolutely no responsibility for something because you've "done what you felt was necessary" is just ridiculous.

We often believe that the way people treat their animals is the way they'd treat their children. It's not a far stretch from some guy kicking his dog to thinking "I wonder if he treats his kids like that?"

If you're so irresponsible that you don't think it's 'necessary' to fix your dog, and arrogant enough to say "well, SHE wandered over here, that litter of puppies has NOTHING to do with ME!"... well, I gotta wonder how you're raising your kids. Certainly not to be responsible.

I agree on principle. However I still think the analogy you used was misplaced.

*shrug*

I wish that was true. As a very painful example (to me), my SD treats her cats FAR better than she treats her kids. Cheese and rice I wish she WOULD pay them that much attention :(

(Thanks OG for the phrase, btw)

I don't believe the way you treat your animals necessarily reflects the way you treat your kids.

Our "animal babies" are fixed. It's something I would personally insist upon. And yes, I agree that it IS irresponsible for an animal "owner" to NOT get their animals fixed. Don't get me wrong there.

However, I just cannot agree with your extrapolation.

Agree to disagree?

And Happy Halloween :)

Dang, my friends, and six pages of it too!!!

Oh yea, and I got rid of the dang Jehovahs that came to my door by telling them I worshiped satan. They never came back:D

I'll have you know my children 12 and 10 are very well educated in the sex department. They know about it all and all the consequences if they chose to go down that road especially before marriage. My children are the ones who know the facts and have all the information they need to make an informed decision whatever they decide.

Animals and children are two different things. Children can be taught and highly educated and can control themselves. Animals seem to lack that control until you put an electric zap on them. If I was like you and compared children to animals I would be saying children have no control over themselves and cannot be educated .
Good thing I think higher of my children.

I can't help but wonder why you'd rather "zap" your dog than just get him neutered. Makes no sense to me
He would still need the fence neutered or not. Neutering isn't going to magically keep him in the yard .
