Umm, No that is not what I am saying. What I am stating as fact, is that he is indeed a lawyer out of NewYork.

I believe it was you, who stated the bar was like a club, and you do not have to belong to it!

YAG will have to answer about his bar number.

Keep digging Laurathelawyer.
If YAG claims to have a "bar card" or a "bar number" from New York, he is lying. You obviously have no clue what you're talking about, but if you're buddy is a lawyer in NY, he would know the following:

The New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) is the oldest and largest voluntary state bar association in the nation, and is a separate entity from the licensing body for New York – the NYS Office of Court Administration (OCA). Unlike some other states, New York does not have an integrated bar.

Q: Can the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) verify whether or not an attorney is a member of the New York Bar in good standing?
A: No.

Q: Does membership in the NYSBA entitle an attorney to practice in New York?
A: No.

Q: Does the licensing body, the NYS Office of Court Administration (OCA), administer bar cards?
A: No. Upon admission to the bar, the Appellate Division does not furnish an ID card, nor does New York have bar numbers.

You're completely ignorant, and I'm right and can prove it, but you just keep coming back for more! Your willingness to make an ass of yourself is impressive, in a weird way.

I didn't see where I said he did. What I stated was that he is an attorney out of New York, and he will deal with the bar thing with you, if he so chooses.

So is your next quest to say NY does not have a State Bar, or that YAG is not a member.

OK! I am going to sleep, while you stay up all night proving that YAG is, or is not a member of the NYBA.

Psst. Don't forget you have to be a lawyer when you wake up.
What she's trying to get at here is NY uses "registration" numbers, not "bar" numbers. A rather petty matter of semantics, as is her argument over being a member of the "bar" (which is universally understood to mean that one is an accredited, practicing attorney in good standing, whether or not an actual "bar" membership is required). Since it is such common knowledge, the fact that she doesn't know that is what leads me to suspect that she's either got a law degree from the local clink, is fresh out of the Guam Law School, or is flat out lying (wouldn't be the first paralegal claiming to be a lawyer here).

But clearly, because you didn't know NY's attorney registration procedures, that must mean that I don't exist. I'm definately not writing this post, and I'm certainly not a member of the NYBA, the NYCBA or the Kings County Bar Associations, either. (Which is great news, those annual membership fees aren't cheap!)

And since LauratheInmateLawyer was obviously not paying attention the first three times, let me spell this out for her:

sarcasmsar·casm (särkzm) n.
1. A cutting, often ironic remark intended to wound.
2. A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.
3. The use of sarcasm.
