I lived in a town that had both teaching jobs and police jobs immediately available, as long as you were bilingual. How's your espanol?
Mi español necesita algo de trabajo.

I can muddle through with Spanish and am the next best thing my agency has as a translator ... which isn't saying much.

Many, many times. It is interesting. They did a good job with the museum. If you haven't been, you should go. It'll make you think.;)

Yo tambien :)

I needed to learn spanish just to keep the kiddos from plotting against me in the classroom. Survival skill, in my opinion!

yes, religin and school, creationalism and evolution are touchy subjects, especially for me. Usually i try to stay away from things i feel strongly about and this thread just ran away with me, Im sorry. (not sorry god is actually an alien, sorry that some people cant accept scientific facts and "theroys" to imaginary events. )

Deepest appologies.

As for text books for home schooled children being most exclusive to creationalism, i direct you to an article I first read in the Associated press, but could only find now in this second rate paper.

Top US home-school texts dismiss evolution | Raw Story

and the same story here it is by the associated press.

Is that an insincere apology wrapped up in a sneering insult, or is it a sneering insult wrapped up in an insincere apology?

Not sifting through this giant thread, but if I may throw my hat into the ring...

Evolution is fact. The theory on the origin of species is theory. To say that evolution is not factual is to say that microscopic adaptations of bacteria that occur oh so frequently are not actually occurring. WHAT?!?! Just because showing evolutionary change on the macro scale is just a tad difficult, why are we saying it doesn't occur. Evolution takes time - exponentially more time for us than much smaller creatures.

This is the idea of evolution - survival of the fittest, natural selection, etc. We may extrapolate back in time to determine our origin, but this is not entirely necessary, and tends to generate controversy. But to not expose one's child to the pure science of observation of evolutionary change is just absurd.

But I guess if we all bury our heads in the sand for a while, the world will flatten out, take center stage in the geocentric universe, and before you know it we will be rockin 1200 A.D. all over again!

Quite insincere and equally insulting.

Plus, as I previously mentioned, examples that are clearly outside the mainstream of home and church schooling are the exemplary norm displayed by those that choose to deride religion.

The texts I have seen used in the many homeschooling programs I have been acquainted with involve a presentation of evolution and faith. As I said, the two do not have to be mutually exclusive and it is the minority of home school - and church school - teaching that chooses to teach one over the other. Where I have found such indoctrination and closed mindedness tends to be in the public school, not the private school. But, the experiences of others might vary.

No it was completely sincere.

I was wrong to let my beliefs run away with me like that...

Just because I see more truth in scientific evolution then Christianity's anything, I should not have let it get away with me, dismiss others personal beliefs and make fun of some peoples whole lives. The exact same thing I dislike organized religion for. Quite sorry.

I'm sure I could have structured a more acceptable and thought out response then what came out, and I'm sorry if you guys (yes you Carl) were offended by my snowman remark. we weren't snowmen.

I'll try to keep a thinking cap over my fire red hair in the future.

Now with that, I will apologies again, for offending those of you who were offended, I know.. one true god, maker of heaven and earth ,our father, and the blessed virgin Mary. May they all, if available, bless you guys tonight and forever on. AMEN.

Perhaps the day will come when we can cast aside the bible along with the fear it induces and realize we each are god. We are all part of this conscious existence, with the unlimited power to perceive and change our belief system at will through the symbiotic processes of intuition and logic. It's all a cosmic joke - only the ones who take it seriously fail to see just what life has to offer. We each have the capacity to be as good or as bad as we please, to be the best or the worst. The key is to do what makes you happy, which is our only goal at this point in our eternal existence. And our current existence pales in comparison to the greatness of it all.

You need to stop. Now.

Just stop.

(for what its worth I'm NOT Christian. I am, however, respectful of other beliefs - you should try that sometime)
