What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Just an update for all you Haters out there the other day...I contacted attorney & she DOES have some legal rights to emancipate now that she's pregnant...will have to petition the court if it comes to that.
As far as statutory rape, they could try to press it but would have a fight considering they moved him in & gave permission for sex. (by the way, this is not even being considered on their part, especially since the couple is still together)
This is all from a real attorney. I'd never been to this site before & was looking for advice, but basically got nothing but judgement & attitude...apparently the ones bein rude dont have teens in their lives or they're livin under a rock...most teens do have sex!
Anyway, thanks for nothin & have a nice lifeWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Okay, I'll be the one to say it straight out.

(Although as it's "that time of year", I'm thinking a few gallons of mimosas made with Veuve Clicquot would be more than apt!)

What if their kids are not part of the "most" teens that you seem to know?

I don't buy the info you got, either. The rights to emancipate that she has are that she has the right to make medical decisions for herself and her child. That's it. She doesn't get to choose where she lives, etc.

And get off the high horse wrt her mother - you're apparently not a heck of a lot better.

wow...still hating, I see. I dont know why you think you can call me a bad parent. In your view then, every teen that gets pregnant or gets a girl pregnant came from a bad home & thats simply not true. SH** happens, even adults sometimes get pregnant unintended. I guess you think Im a bad mom because my son moved in with her family...remember, he was 18 & just like all of you said, they can live where they want then. Our family was movin, he didnt wanna go, wanted to do college there. I even tried to rent him apartment, but he'd have none of it. So whatever...my kids feel they can talk to me about ANYTHING & until your child is 18 & makes a few bad choices, you really cant JUDGE. As far as federal aid or whatever, who cares?? My son is making REALLY good money & will support this child...we dont need handouts. Y'all really need to get over the statutory rape thing & calling my son a sexual predator...18 yr old boys date girls within a couple yrs of them...its reality, theyre not predators. Its a non-issue for us so if you're tryin to scare me, not working. They'll ultimately either have the baby & stay w/em til she's 18 or they'll decide to let em marry or move w/us...it'll work out either way. Im not a liar, I've spoken w/attorney but I really dont care if you believe or not. I dont spend much time on computer (like some of you obviously do) & now I see why...too many rude, obnoxious people on the net. Get a life...mine will be fine :)

Quotalicious!!!

Well, I dunno. You're the one who claimed people posting either didn't have teens or lived under a rock because most teens have sex. Well... I have two teens and I don't live under a rock. Neither have had sex - because they've chosen not to. They both date (in fact, my 16yo has a b/f who is 18 - both understand my concerns and are willing to abide by my rules). We talk a lot about choices and their consequences - both have some lofty goals and are not willing to sacrifice them for a potential pregnancy. Both know they have my support if it should happen, but both prefer not to take that chance.

So I dunno. I would have serious conversations with my son and his g/f's parents if he were in this situation. And I would not encourage her to defy her parents to move in with me. Because I'd be damned if I allowed a total stranger (which is what you are) to play that game with my girl. You'd find yourself on the receiving end of a restraining order so fast, you wouldn't have time to blink.

Sorry, not a total stranger...Ive known her parents since a teenager myself. Im not encouraging her to defy parents, but yes I can give her a better home if it comes down to it...believe me, you dont know her home life. They dont have any issues w/me & I fully believe her mom will come around, mainly because she wont want the hassle...enuf said. Trust me, the oldest daughter got the heck out of there as soon as she could too. Thats great if your teens havent had sex yet, but dont fool yourself also...things happen in the heat of the moment for 1 thing, & a parent having rules doesnt stop a kid from doin what they want sometimes. You arent w/em 24/7 so dont think it doesnt happen! And b/friend is 18??? OMG, according to some on here that makes him a sexual predator, ha ha!

Legally? You are a total stranger.

And no, my girl's young man isn't a problem. And while you may not feel confident about the choices your kids make? I am of mine. Nor am I walking around with my eyes closed.

Oh, and... funny.... they're friends aren't into sexual activity, either.
