I see no reason why any landlord would let you off the lease since it benefits him no possible way. As of now, all three of you are legally responsible for May and 1/2 of Junes rent....and possibly more if the remaining tenant refuses to vacate.

The way a security deposit his handled does not apply to all landlords. Many landlords are exempt from the statute.

So you have no proof that you ever paid rent or utilities? If so, your not a legally a tenant under Texas law. I would have you arrested for trespassing if you returned back to the property and breaking/entering if you forced your way in.
