Hey motherto6....The question is "who really needs assistance vs. who expects it?" There is a big differnce between the two.
I'm ready and will to help those in need, but I am not willing to help those who will not help themselves.

Oh, you got me before I logged off.
I assume you are meaning people like I had to be at one point in my life? Well, I did not ask for my ex to hit me, and I left rather than stay in an abusive situation. How many times have you seen women that are in domestic violence situations and ask yourself, "Why don't they just leave?" Well I did, but needed some help. Now you come back and get upset because I needed that help? What would you prefer? I paid taxes while I was on assistance, and I still do. I got on my feet and did not bleed the system dry, but apparently that is not good enough for you? It sounds like you worked hard and have come by your income through true grit, however, so many people do the same thing and still need the help. What about your neighbor? Do you chastise her for being on welfare after her guy used her for a punching bag? You tried to help and obviously realized that since the State had a system in place to rehabilitate her why not use it. So now are you saying that she is taking advantage of you too?
Because you have to pay for her mistakes? Now, you might say that is different because you know her. Well how many people are you judging that are in her same position, but you don't know them so it is alright.

OK ~ I totaly agree with your last post. People do need to do for themselves. Try to get off assistance whenever possible. I realize that many people will suck the life out of programs by not being responsible. But you can't just assume that every person that you come across on a site like this is doing that. Perhaps most are and you can tell by their follow up posts, but there was just not enough info from the OP to determine that. That is why I got upset. I felt like you had her scamming the system without knowing more of the story.

Calm down ~ I was replying to you! I am not "on the system". We now have a very good income, and help others out.

OK...I'll calm down. I know what I say doesn't mean anything, but aren't you proud that you took a stand and got back on your feet. You should be!!! Others should try and do the same. That is why I stated that Yulunda put her money to better use.

shellandty ~ yes, I am proud, but that was many,many moons ago. Like 13 years, so it is not a big deal anymore. Just life. I appreciate your opinions just questioned your judging of the OP without even knowing if she was paying for internet, or using it for free. Have a good night.
